How we see Ukraine's future

A united, responsible, and inclusive society with democratic values and a culture of human rights.
Human dignity is the highest value.
People are equal, they live in peace for their own good and the good of others, caring for the common welfare.
People are brave enough to take responsibility and defend their conscious position.
There is no violence, and all people act based on the values of development, respect, and acceptance of diversity.
every person is valued in society, and totalitarian ideologies, xenophobia, and other ideas that question human value are a thing of the past;
everyone participates in dialogue to bring about necessary change. People are not afraid to express their opinions and respect the right of others to have different opinions;
all people, without exception, feel safe and supported even in times of crisis;
all resources are used rationally and everyone cares about the future of the Earth's ecosystem.

Our team

The STAN team is a community of professionals in the fields of education, culture, human rights, and media. Most of its members come from different regions of the country, grew up in small towns, are internally displaced persons, have faced prejudice and social inequality because of their identities, and have achieved success despite this.

The team members grow in value, constantly learn, and develop their own competencies in humanitarian aid standards, informal education, strategic and financial management, and project monitoring and evaluation.

Among them are graduates of the Ukrainian Catholic University and other higher education institutions who have become fellows of top international programs such as the Council of Europe, Prague Civil Society Fellowship Program (Czech Republic), International Visitors Leadership Program “Open World” (USA), Eastern Partnership Civil Society Fellowship Program (EU), and many others. They have represented Ukraine at international meetings in the European Union, Eastern Partnership, Central Asia, and Africa.

STAN in 2024

History of the organization

The history of STAN is a journey from a protest literary group in Luhansk to a community of human rights defenders and cultural mediators across the country. Founded in the late 1990s, the organization grew up alongside the young Ukrainian state: it defended its democracy and freedom in two revolutions (2004 and 2013), and with the start of the war, it had to move to Ivano-Frankivsk. When we say “organization,” we mean not so much specific people as a core of values that has brought together artists, activists, human rights defenders, and education and culture managers for over 20 years.
